Where have you been?!
It’s been a while… to say the least. SO much has changed for us and while we haven’t updated it here yet, we have collected so much great content that we will share in the coming weeks.
First of all, we got MARRIED! While COVID has thrown a wrench in so many plans, this was one area where our “pivot” was truly so special. We had an intimate and magical day where we made it official and were able to celebrate safely outside. Next year, we will do it all over again, hopefully the way it was planned originally – I saved my real wedding dress for the occasion and there were so many people that we love that weren’t able to be with us this year, so that day in 2021 will certainly be special to us in an equally important, but totally different way. Needless to say, wedding planning is still on my radar – don’t be surprised if there is some wedding content mixed in.
Last we talked, we had just closed on the house and had a fantastic weekend working on the house with our parents. If you missed that, check out the initial photos and work weekend here. From that point, we started planning what needed to get done in the six week window before we actually moved in to our new house (moving basically a week before our wedding- what were we thinking?!) We will let you know what we did and how we did it in much more detail in the coming weeks, but for now I’ll give you a brief recap of what we’ve been up to.
- We finished the guest room first since we knew we had a guest coming to stay in only a couple weeks. That post is coming next week – demo, painting, a bathroom refresh and the start of floors.
- We hosted our first guests, who were visiting to help us with making our master bathroom an en suite layout. It was a HUGE weekend of demolition (much more than we planned) and an adventure we will truly NEVER forget. I didn’t know my body could hurt like that… more coming, but think jack hammers, lots of cuss words on my end and late nights.
- In the midst of that project, we had to demolish our basement, since we had a dumpster in our driveway that week. Again, sore muscles made an appearance. Since that weekend, the basement hasn’t changed a whole lot.
- Now that the wall layout changes were made, we were ready to lay the rest of the new floors so that the furniture could be moved out of our apartment and into our house. Our goal was to get them all done. Spoiler, didn’t quite make that happen.
- We started replacing the cabinet pulls in the kitchen pretty quickly after we moved in. We thought that would be a quick update… it still isn’t completely done.
- We did some outdoor improvements including garden lights and a front porch light on the easy end, more jackhammering and concrete replacement on the heavy end (thanks Dad).
- We moved in and put together lots of furniture- namely, an ikea dresser, a new dining room table and a bed frame.
We have, for the the most part, been focused on either the wedding or unpacking since we moved in. There is definitely still some unpacking to be done, but we are back, refreshed and ready to start working again.
As you can see from the list above, there is SO much to update you on, and I plan to write my heart out these next couple weeks to get caught up. We are so incredibly blessed to be surrounded by such fun and extravagant “chaos” in our lives in the midst of a truly crazy time and will be forever grateful for these amazing memories.
