Closing Day! And our 1st Weekend of Work
These past couple months waiting for closing I’ve felt like a kid on Christmas Eve! I haven’t been able to sleep because visions of paint colors and light fixtures were dancing in my head… but the day finally came and it was unbelievably special!
Friday morning, we drove to our closing and sat opposite a plexiglass shield in our masks, signing document after document. It was honestly a little anti climactic compared to what I expected in my head, but the fun was just beginning!
My parents drove to be here with us during our closing and Matt’s family lives in our city – it was SO special to be able to spend the weekend celebrating our big move with them all! We toasted by popping the same kind of champagne that my grandfather brought to the hospital when I was born – see the beautiful bottle in the picture below against our gorgeous white fireplace!
But.. You’ve seen all the projects were planning (if not – check it out here ) so the toasting was cut short by a lengthy and expensive home depot trip! Our plan was to try to get some painting done, so we started in the paint section, by ordering sample sizes of a few colors that we were trying to decide between. By the end of the trip, we’d purchased all sorts of things new homeowners need, including one my dad swears by, a squeegee!
We’ll save the details for another post, but by the end of the weekend we had made it through an actual tornado (not kidding – pictures of us taking cover in the basement below) and a tornado of home renovation!
Our yard was completely transformed thanks to Matt’s sweet Mama, our garden goddess, Caroline, our living space was stripped of wall base and had a fresh coat of paint (Alpaca Blanket by Behr), our garage was squeaky squeegee clean, and our space was lit by some new light fixtures all thanks to my Dad. I Included some before and after shots below in case you want to see the first step of many!
Overall, I’m not sure that our parents knew what they were in for this weekend, but we would not be able to have done this by their constant support! Our hearts are so unbelievably full.
